Natalie Gomez is an Executive Strategy Director at TBWA/CHIAT NY. She is a second-generation Mexican-American who advocates for diversity and believes in sharing her experience to empower others as they embark on their own personal and professional journey. She became immersed into creative ad agency life first through social media, then broadened my skill set to include brand strategy and communications planning. Natalie is innately curious about humans, passionate about culture and brands, and methodological in how she communicates her thought process and 100% obsessed with social platforms.

José M. Mayorquin, Producer, ABC-Disney Entertainment

Behind The Scenes: Careers In TV & Film

José is a four-time Emmy award-winning producer and storyteller at ABC-Disney Entertainment. His productions include Localish, Eyewitness News, Race & Culture Specials, On The Red Carpet, and live shows from the American Music Awards and Academy Awards which are seen on ABC7 in Los Angeles, Hulu, and ABC-owned stations throughout the country. He specializes in producing dynamic multi-cultural content. He was also the producer of long-running shows Eye on LA and Vista LA, which celebrates Southern California's Latino community.

Born and raised in Southeast Los Angeles, José has an Economics degree from U.C. Berkeley, and a Masters degree in VR and Immersive Media from Arizona State University. He also studied Television & Film Production at Los Angeles City College and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City. José is a former Board Member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) and Adelante Youth Alliance


 

Soledad Tlamasico & Eber Navarrete

Full STEAM Ahead: Intro to Civil Engineering

Soledad Tlamasico is from Mexico and the first in her family to graduate from college. She received her bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Cal State University Northridge. Soledad works for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and works on Stormwater Management, Flood Prevention, and other awesome projects! 

Eber Navarrete is a born and raised Los Angeles native and was the first in his family to graduate from college. Eber received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Eber started his career as a bridge engineer for the civil engineering firm URS and now works at LA County Public Works as a Stormwater Planning Engineer.

This workshop is designed to motivate youth to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) and will discuss the following: What is STEAM, What  is Civil Engineering? The career path of a civil engineer. What does LA County Public Works do for residents and how do cities provide safe clean water, efficient transportation modes, buildings such as schools, etc?

In this engaging workshop high school students will learn the four things they can do right now to build future wealth. Each student will leave with a clear road map of what to do and how to do it. The tools and strategies provided are simple but their application could lead to a solid financial future. Presentation is based on Shay Olivarria's book 10 Things College Students Need to Know About Money.

Shay Olivarria is the most dynamic financial education speaker working today. Susana graduated from California State University Los Angeles and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, and a Master of Science in Public Administration. She has owned two businesses and recently published her new book, Keys to Success for High School and College Students. Susana is currently working on her new book, which she plans to publish at the end of 2023.  She currently serves at her church as an ordained minister. 

This workshop takes participants through an easy 3-step process to help students make important education to career decisions that will impact their futures.  The goal of this workshop is to help every student choose an education path that will lead them to a fulfilling career.

Join us to learn how you can use music as a powerful tool to help you in regulating your mood, reducing stress, and overall mental health wellness.

This team is led by Dr. Marcos Briano "DrB" (he/him/el). He is Director of USC's Physical Education & Mind Body Health & associate professor with the USC Rossier School of Education Marriage Family Therapy program. His research interests include suicide intervention training, teaching, social justice, and advocacy efforts for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) & LGBTQIA+/Ally communities. He is currently a board member of the Dignity Health Hospital, California Community College Mental Health & Wellness Association, and member of LACPA’s Ethics Committee. He enjoys teaching golf at USC and group exercise classes at local gyms.

Firefighter Captain Alexander Reyes will be joined by his Fire Explorer Post and provide insight to a day in the life of a firefighter, and getting a job in the fire service. Captain Reyes has been a firefighter for 22 years and works for the Pasadena Fire Department, keeping our neighborhoods safe as a top priority. Public safety is the paramount duty of the Pasadena Fire Department and these firefighters are dedicated to ensuring every city resident is safe at home, at work and at school.
